About Keeping It Wild

Keeping It Wild was born from a love of the bush and a passion for living simply through hunting, gathering, and sharing the wild way of life.

Shay and Abby both grew up in the Bay of Plenty and first met as teenagers in the Kaweka Ranges. Six months later, a fishing date that caught no fish turned into days spent living in the bush, trapping possums, and dreaming up what would become Keeping It Wild.

What started as a fun way to share their adventures quickly grew into a hub for people around the world to learn how to hunt, survive, eat possum, and thrive.

Now, with three little girls in tow, life looks a bit different, but the passion to pass down bushcraft knowledge, sustainable living skills, and wild food traditions has only grown stronger.

Keeping It Wild is a celebration of all the possum loving, wild food foraging, campfire crew out there.

Keep it wild, team!
